Student exchange scholarship (Global Korea Scholarship)

This is one of the scholarships in the Korean government scholarship (NIIED). This scholarship is for students who wish to register for student exchange programs to study in Korea for 6 months to 1 year. 2. Conditions for scholarship hunting

a. General conditions

– Students and their parents must be foreigners (No Korean nationality). If one of the students or the student's parents has 2 nationalities, and one of them is Korean nationality, they will still not be able to participate in this scholarship program.

– If the student and the student's parents used to have Korean nationality, they must submit an application proving that they once had Korean nationality but now do not. (This application is issued by the Korean government)

– If a student changes nationality during the application process, the student will be eliminated from the evaluation round.

– Students are healthy enough to study long-term in Korea, without tuberculosis or infectious diseases.

– No criminal record and no entry ban.

– Need to be proficient in basic English or Korean to pass the interview and write the essay.

b. Conditions for University programs

– Under 25 years old as of March 1 of the year of application

– Applicant students must have graduated from a university-level high school program. For students scheduled to graduate, they can submit a temporary graduation certificate and after passing all rounds, the student must supplement the original degree before applying for a visa. In addition, students who have graduated from university programs are not eligible to participate in this scholarship program.

– The student's average score must satisfy one of the following two conditions:

  • Achieve >80/100 or be ranked TOP 20% of a class.
  • CGPA average score > 2.64/4, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/45 or 3.23/5.0

*If the transcript does not follow the above evaluation scale, additional documents must be submitted to convert according to this scale.

Students expected to graduate will have their GPA calculated at the time of application.

– Applies to majors with 4-year study programs, excluding majors with more than 4 years of study such as medicine and architecture.

c. Conditions for graduate programs

– About nationality:

  • Conditions like University program
  • As for R&D programs(*), all countries are accepted. It means that with the R&D program, Koreans can also apply for this scholarship program.

(*) R&D (Research and Development) means research and development of any activity related to creating innovation in existing services, products, processes or discovering new improvements to create new products. Simply put, R&D is a research process aimed at creating positive improvements and innovations for businesses.
