Types of Scholarships to Study Abroad in Korea

I. KOREAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP

– Korean government scholarship:

To provide outstanding undergraduate, graduate, and graduate students with the opportunity to study in Korea as well as promote educational exchanges and friendly relations between countries. Each year, the Government of this country will award about 120 scholarships to study abroad in Korea for students attending 4-year universities (can change depending on budget) and 580 postgraduate scholarships including Scholarships to study abroad in Korea for master's, doctoral, and research study abroad. In addition to tuition support, some international students may also receive support for airfare, language courses, monthly stipends and more. Because of its high value and the most targeted by students, Korean Government scholarships are considered to be extremely competitive scholarships with relatively strict conditions.

Registration for this scholarship will begin in September, results will be announced in January and admission will be around the end of February for undergraduate programs. And it starts in February, results are announced in June and admission is around the end of August for graduate programs.

– Student exchange scholarships:

This is a scholarship program granted to excellent international students who wish to study in the Korean student exchange program, in order to promote competition between universities, creating opportunities for international students to study abroad. Experience education and understand more about the culture of the land of Kimchi.

Each year there will be about 200 student exchange scholarships and the number of scholarships will not be fixed depending on the budget and may be less or more than the number mentioned above. The scholarship value will include support for: round-trip airfare, living expenses, settlement support, medical insurance...

– Financial support program for students studying abroad in Korea on their own:

Every year, according to the target, about 200 international students will receive this scholarship. As the name implies, these scholarships to study abroad in Korea will be for international students studying abroad on their own, with excellent academic performance, with a support fee of 500,000 won/month. for living expenses and lasts for a maximum of 10 months.

– Scholarships for students majoring in science and engineering from Southeast Asian countries:

For students studying science and engineering from countries in the above region, the Korean Government will sponsor about 120 scholarships/year and come to Korea to study between July and August. The scholarship will cover all round-trip airfare, insurance, and accommodation costs.

II. SCHOLARSHIPS FROM KOREAN UNIVERSITIES

In addition to scholarships from the Korean Government, students can also hunt for scholarships from the university they are currently studying at. Language learning program:

  • Students who complete five consecutive levels of study and receive five awards for diligence will be awarded a scholarship of up to 100% tuition for the next level.

  • Students may also be awarded scholarships upon teacher recommendation and through board meetings.

Obligations (Maintaining the scholarship): The average score for the previous semester must be above 3.75. If it is lower, you will not receive a scholarship for the next semester.

  •  Global Vision Scholarship:

Duration: Semester 1 to Semester 4: For Master's and Doctoral programs / Semester 1 to Semester 8: For integrated Master's and Doctoral programs

Obligations (Maintaining the scholarship):

  • The average score for the previous semester must be above 3.75. If it is lower, you will not receive a scholarship for the next semester.
  • Work as a Teaching Assistant for 2 semesters while studying at school (Semesters 1~4 for Masters and PhD, Semesters 1~8 for integrated programs)

– Jeonbuk Science College
