What are the conditions for studying in Korea in 2024?
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
One of the important requirements for studying in Korea is that applicants must have a high school diploma. Therefore, those who have not graduated from high school will not be eligible to participate in this program. Below is detailed information about the educational requirements for studying in Korea:
Korean Language System – Visa D4
- GPA The average score of all schools is above 6.5. In the Seoul area, it is almost always required > 7.0.
- The optimal number of days off is less than 5 sessions. If more, please contact Monday for in-depth advice.
- The gap period (the period after graduating from high school or college) must not exceed 2 years and must not exceed 5 years. If it is longer than that period, the student must prove what he/she did during that time.
- The language program has a regular system and a continuing education system. Students in the continuing education system will have more limited school choices than students in the regular system.
- No language proficiency required TOPIK / KLAT
College (Visa D2-1) University (Visa D2-2)
- Have TOPIK/KLAT 3 or higher certificate for Korean language.
- Have IELTS 5.5, TOEFL ibt 70 or higher for English program.
- High school graduate.
- GPA >6.5/10.
- The program is not too strict about free time, but the school will consider your study plan after coming to Korea.
College and university majors studying abroad in Korea
Master's (Visa D2-3) and PhD (Visa D2-4) programs
Depending on your nature and wishes, it should be divided into 2 types as follows:
For work-study system:
- Just need to graduate from university or higher.
- Have TOPIK 2.
For those who want to attend prestigious schools and focus on their studies:
- Have TOPIK 4 or higher for Korean language.
- IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL ibt 80 or higher for English language program.
- GPA> 6.5.
- Requires a clear study plan and aspirations.
For the arts and talents
For fields such as fine arts, music, singing, dancing, and design, candidates need to submit an additional “proposal” with completed artistic products to demonstrate their abilities.
FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
Financial records must be proven as required by the school and the Korean Embassy/Consulate:
1. Income confirmation:
Parents or sponsors must provide proof of income, depending on the job. For example, if the business has a business license, it is necessary to provide the license and tax invoices. For civil servants, it is necessary to provide salary confirmation for the last 6 months.
2. Bank savings book:
For language study programs, the savings book must be worth over 10 million won (Seoul and surrounding areas) or 8 million won (other areas). There are two forms:
- K-study book: Opened at a Korean bank in Vietnam and in the student's name. Students will be able to withdraw money in parts after arriving in Korea.
- Family Savings Book: Opened under the name of the student or parent at any bank in Vietnam. The book must be opened 6 months before submitting the visa application.
3. Specialized programs:
For college and university programs, the savings book must be worth 16-20 million won. The book must be opened 3 months before submitting the visa application and must have a term of at least 6-12 months.
HEALTH CONDITIONS
For Korea, students with pulmonary tuberculosis will not be allowed to enter the country. In other cases, they can still enter the country. In case you have pulmonary tuberculosis, you can participate in treatment within 6 months. After 6 months, you can re-examine and get a certificate from the hospital to continue studying in Korea.
There are concerns you often raise about health issues as follows:
- Can I study abroad in Korea if I have tattoos? Korea is not as strict as Japan so you can still study abroad with tattoos.
- Can I study abroad in Korea if I have hepatitis B? In the health examination for studying abroad in Korea, there is no requirement to test for hepatitis B, so if you have hepatitis B, you can still go, but you should also get treatment to be eligible to work as an official employee later, transferring to an E7 Visa.
- Can I study abroad if I am under 1m50 tall? You can still go, but try to study well to create more competitive advantages to apply for jobs later!
CONDITIONS ON IMMIGRATION AND PERSONAL RECORDS
- Students studying abroad are not on the list of people banned from leaving Vietnam and banned from entering Korea.
- No illegal relatives in Korea.
